This means war

by Gracie Danielle   Dec 19, 2006

Holding your hand
as I cradle your head
covered in blood
left here for dead

A heartbeat so faint
a body so cold
a quivering breath
your story untold

Today I was walking
It was a beautiful day
I took a wrong turn
and went the right way

I stopped for directions
I was looking around
It was then that I saw
the bundle on the ground

I lifted the blankets
and tears filled my eyes
As I realized the blankets purpose
was to muffle your cries

Your poor little body
was broken and cold
You couldn't have been more than
a few months old

Guilt filled my heart
as you took your last breath
who could have beaten
a baby to death

I could tell you I'm sorry
but it wont be enough
But I am sorry you were
unwanted and unloved

I sat in the alley
my sanity harmed
I died there that day
with you in my arms

I hope that who finds us
will know this means war
and will let the world know
what we died for
