I had a Dream

I had a dream once
That i was loved,
that i was cared for,
that there was someone out there
who was the one for me.
I was happy then,
free from my fears,
free from those voices telling me what i was.

But that dream has gone now,
and I'm left sitting here,
looking back at
what could have been,
what would have been,
what should have been.

And now i wonder
could this soul ever find a heart
to love it
as much as it can love.

I wonder
if there really is that one person out there.
