Rejection

*wrote this a while back after a situation that caused a huge rift in my family - was my fault.*

That heavy weight that swings on your heart,
its thorny chains gouge holes deep
as it swings and swings.
That blind that falls across your eyes
blocking all else from your sight
leaving blood stained tears across your face.
That screw that bores deep in your head,
its rusted, blunt edges slowly carving their way through your skull.
That separation of a link, as bonds thicker than blood slowly snap and tear.
No life line, no safety net
as you fall.
The pain as your heart is shredded into pieces
as your very being gives up the will to live.
The darkness that lingers ever onward
as eyes are closed
and heads are turned away.
No longer that Friend
No longer that relative
No longer a mother to you
Claws rip their way through cages
and new demons emerge from the dark
new torture
new pain
as the light is put out between us
Put out from that eternal flame
