You always did

by Everlasting   Sep 20, 2014

I don't think it was you.
It was me.

Me who always shied away
Who always hid into a cage
Who always locked herself in,
despite knowing
that life is far better than a dream.

It's just that
I always gave you a key
whenever I locked myself in that cage.
I threw it to you from the inside
while I fastened my grip tighter to the bars.

Yet you always came rushing to me.
Each time, embracing me closer to your chest
And I...

How I wish I could have locked myself in there...
in your heart, that is...
How I wish I could have never given you that key
The key to unlock me from your heart

But I always did, didn't I?

I always gave you a key...
And you always set me free.
