Looks Like Rain:

by Scott Cole   May 9, 2016

It's time for bedy bye
You sleepy little eyes,
Pull down those eyelids
So all can stay dry.

The alarm clock is set
Pressed in my mind,
What time to get up
So I'll be on time.

Rest your weary eyes
With a good night sleep,
Don't say a word
Or sneak a little peep.

I hope you sleep well
For your snug as a bug,
Two green peas in a pod
That's coming unplugged.

Dream those good thoughts
When you both were in love,
Both your little minds
Were thinking as one.

When life was great
Not a tear had you cried,
Nor a sad or bad feeling
Had fell from your eyes.

Or think of your future
When the Sun comes up,
As you open your eyes
That's still halfway numb.

The alarm clock brings
This ringing in my head,
It's time to wake up
And get out of bed.

Pull back those covers
That kept you so warm,
All through the nightime
From passing rainstorms.

I crack open the curtains
Those eyelashes indeed,
To check out the weather
And see what I can see.

I turn in a blink
Jump right back in bed,
Pull both of those eyelids
Way up over my head.

Right now I don't see it
My eyeballs are sleepy,
And all of this raining
It makes me feel weepy.

Lower your eyelashes
Pull up your eyelids,
Lay down your little heads
Like you already did.
