The Man

by Tainted Butterfly   Jul 5, 2005

He was a man behind a mask
Hid his heart and his very soul.
Thought the world had no good inside.
And nothing could help make him whole.

He was a man afraid of dreams
Of happiness and love so true.
He was a man whose light was hidden
so much people never knew.

In darkness he would
reach for knives and cut his very skin.
In light he would hide his scars
behind the demons from within.

He was a man with a heart of gold
An intelligence more than most had.
He was a man who was filled with good
But always felt so very sad.

He was a man who wore all black
for reasons unknown to most.
He was a man who wished to be invisible
unseen like haunting ghosts.

He was a man who could teach you
through the world that he painted.
He was a man who chose to live
alone in a world dark and tainted.

Good poem, some great lines. Remember to test out new ways of writing, break free from structure and create your very original type of structure and style. I can see a style developed though, you have some strong last lines that really sums up what you are talking about which is good because it creates a very clear and precise image. Again, another story that is strong and sad, you are a good writer who is independent in thought and action, GOOD WORK! Keep strong and may light fill your heart and soul and his!
