The Dance We Do

by Ashley   Feb 15, 2008

One Step forward, Two Steps back
The rhythm of the dance is the last thing we lack

Let you lead hoping things will go right
But all you do is lead us into yet another fight

Two steps forward, four steps back
We have this thing down pat

The dance is always the same
Never does it change

It always ends with me in pain
And with you going insane

It's the dance we do that tires us out
But ending the dance will end the pain? Something I truly doubt

I want only you in my arms to dance the night away
But knowing I will never have my way

I take one step forward... Now turn face to face
I run and you chase

Please just let me go
I don't want to do this dance anymore I just want to end the show

So that's two steps forward, but he's one ahead
He brings life to my soul and with him the dance is never dead

It's the dance we do that hurts me
I'm tired of dancing... I just want him to stop hurting me or let me be.

One step forward... Let's take a bow
The dance is over and I'm crying out

We exit the stage, I call it quits
But it's not really over... Is It?
