Her Pain

What does she think
when she holds him close
Does she cry in her sleep
and just lives on her hopes.

Does she ever feel like she cant take no more.
Closing her eyes she wishes he can stay home.
But she knows the truth
and she hides it so well lying to you.

How can she be so strong
and how has she kept going so long.
How can she handle all this pain
I know on the inside she cries all day.

I know everyday she tries to believe
that somehow he will always be here for her to sleep.
I can see the pain in her eyes
when she says shes OK
I know its a lie.

I know he is her hero
because he makes her believe in everything she knows.
She knows that she must hold on
because we know he hasn't much left and live on for so long.

*This poem is about my sister and how she is so strong to be living her life knowing her son (my nephew Steven) might not be here much longer.
