A Moment of Freedom

by Letty   Feb 21, 2008

Feather light flakes drift slowly to the snow covered ground,
Five black birds gradually float to the empty branches to perch.
Nothing else seems to matter to those beautiful creatures of nature.
Even though the hawk is among us dropping the temperature below,
Those five black birds still mingle happily with one another today.

As I sit and watch, I wish that my life could be as simple as theirs look.
Wishing that burdens and trials didn't always bring me down when I'm happy.
Wanting to be as free as they are at the moment, with no laws to govern me,
No one controlling what I choose to do with my life, no one to point fingers.
I want to be among friends, I want to mingle and laugh, I want to fly free.

Listening to them work together to create the loveliest melody known to man,
I'm mesmerized by the tune and the joyful dance they perform before my eyes.
I slowly inhale the fresh crisp air of winter, loving the taste of freedom it leaves;
Exhaling even slower, not wanting to let go, wanting to float with it and dance.
Even though it was only a moment that I experienced that freedom, it was worth it.
