Planet Earth

by Mr. Darcy   Mar 2, 2008

Metro madness, Chaotic city
Perforated ozone, what a pity

Smoking highways, jammed lanes
Choking children, what a shame

Burning carcass, flaming fields
Supermarket prices, rotting meal

Food mountains, gathering dust
starving child sucks an empty busts

Brainwashed children, taught to hate
Warring countries, big mistake

Running taps, greedy lies,
poison water, families die

Silent shouting, unheard words
Tankers at sea, oil-covered birds

Monkeys lying on a metal bench
Probes sticking out of open heads

Desperate people, a message profound
Two trembling towers fall to the ground.

Animals dying. Species extinct
Planet earth, on the brink.

    I adored the last stanza.

The whole poem is EXACTLY how I feel. I'm glad you sent this to me. We're causing too much descruction where all it takes is simple changes to make a huge difference...but no one cares.

    Five out of five.

I really enjoyed this. Words heartfelt and totally meaningful. So much pain in the world you would think in the 21st century we would have sorted it out by now XX
