Aching for a Break

by Michael D Nalley   Mar 14, 2008

Heartaches and headaches have taken their toll
The pain has made it to my very soul
I seriously don't know how much more I can take
As every part of my poor body does ache

Bitter darkness it has robed me in the night like a thief
I pray for the sweetness of the day that will bring relief
Deep in my spirit you know I have this feeling
That I am in desperate need of spiritual healing

I must move in my passion and rest in my reason
To everything under the sun there is a season
Praise to the Lord I am not paying for every mistake
I am thankful for mercy, but praying for a little break

A sadly penned piece. Written with raw emotion. A poem many can relate to. When times are bad and it seems as if everything is going wrong, faith and strong will along with time will help you through. Hopefully tough times will only make you stronger. Good Luck.

I adore the meaning hidden in each lines and stanzas and i appreciate that you've tried to rhyme the words but i think in some angle it creates a bit flaw in your poem.

Oh I know that feeling of wishing for a break from all the stress and just escape to a place to relax for a while. I loved the words you used here because it expressed the message flawlessly and created an imagery I could relate with. Well done *5/5*

Very nicely written. The flow was flawless and your choice of words were outstanding. The beginning definitely drew me in and the ending was perfect.

Oh I'm quite fond of this one. When I first started reading it, it actually reminded me a bit of this song, just by the way I sounded it out in my mind.
