Remembrance

by Rachel   Mar 25, 2008

Dreaming of unwalked land,
A beautiful place, filled with beautiful faces.
Summer's winding down,
and my heart is up in the air.
Memories are formed as the waves come crashing down onto the shore.
All I want is for time to stop.
As I gaze off into the endless Atlantic,
I can't seem to let go,
of this summer, of this feeling.
praying for a miracle with my eyes wide open.
A year later, and this place still feels the same.
I can feel your ghost lingering around here,
Looking for a purpose.
A lighthouse in the distance cast its light
On the sand, illuminating the water,
and the shadows beneath the surface.
It's so hard to walk away,
So hard to put the past behind me.
But life is always moving on
And it seems like I can't keep up.
Everything changes so fast these days,
And I can't seem to let go to what I've always known;
all that i've held onto for so long.

The word 'Atlantic' seems to disrupt the flow you your poem, I would try replacing it with 'ocean'. Other than that, I liked your poem and the emotion it gave off.
