The Final Seconds

by kyrieann   Mar 27, 2008

If it weren't for the full moon,
I wouldn't have noticed.
The shadow of a boy with a black coat,
Throwing himself off of a building.

And he was so sure he would not survive,
I watched him in slow motion.
As he fell, screaming and screaming,
My heart jumped into my throat.

I couldn't move, hence I watched,
He fell so fast, but it seemed so slow.
The full moon illuminating his coat,
Waving all around him.

He had his eyes wide open,
His mouth was gaping in shock.
He screamed for someone to help,
As he fell and faster.

Time ticked so slow,
I shut my eyes as soon.
As he reached the pavement,
The final seconds of his suicide.

Tick tock, tick tock,
His shoes falling after him.
I opened my eyes,
And the full moon was so beautiful.

I took my step forward,
It was a daydream.
My imagination running wild,
And now the real thing begins.

My shoes falling off,
My coat fluttering and waving.
The fast wind from below,
Hitting my face like a whip.

Looking around for something to grab,
So I can save myself.
I try to hold air but I fail,
I turn over, and I see the full moon.

'It's so beautiful,' I thought,
So big and bright.
Looking after me it seemed,
Tick tock, tick tock.

Feeling my heart thump faster,
Screaming before the pavement.
Hoping someone will catch me,
The final seconds before my suicide.
