Daddy's Little Nightmare

by Allie   Mar 28, 2008

He's coming up the stairs,
left foot, right foot,
he's already scared us all.
With a gleam of hate in his eye,
daddy's got a smile that stings,
like the gleaming butcher's knife.
I hear a girl scream
into the night;
is my little sister alright?
Cowering under the covers,
like a scared and frightened child,
the door starts to violently tremble.
A loud crack is heard throughout the house,
the sound of wood splitting,
as the door gives way:
Help!
He comes to my bed,
I'm scared with fright,
as he bends down to
stroke my damp hair and say good night.
All just a dream,
a horrible nightmare.
And I can't help but to think:
Will that ever happen here
and not just in my dreamland?
