No one is home

by Broken Inside   May 23, 2004

Knock on the door,
No one is home,
Only the feeling,
Of being alone.
People are inside,
But they try to hide.
They pretend as if nothing is wrong,
But everyone knows,
What really goes on.
The dad is abusive,
The mom can only watch,
The pain those poor kids go through,
Why doesn’t she call the cops?
At school the kids get picked on,
They walk through each day,
With a pretend smile on their face.
Their dreams come up in smoke,
When their mom admits their broke.
No more money, no more food,
Their sad mother didn’t know what to do.
One night, she took out a gun,
And ended their lives before they begun.
The dad got in the car and drove away,
While the mom sat down and looked at what she had done.
She shot herself and fell before her kids,
And with one final breath,
She said not all good people live.
