A second chance

by StandStill   Mar 31, 2008

A little angel
broken at birth
crash landed
when she fell to the earth

goldie locks had nothing
on this sweet little girl
dark hair let loose
with masses of curls

sweet little lips
pucker like a cherry
eyes deep blue
kinda like a blueberry

so much potential
all in this one little girl
holding her breath
waiting to change this world

her mother spoke cruelly
her father did hit
she felt so alone
by fate she felt bit

and slowly she grew
into something worth hate
the world tore off the angel's wings
showed her her terrible fate

slowly her terror
turned into bitter fear
all her friends left her
to no one she was dear

and every night she sat around
and waited for an end
and quickly she discovered
metal was her friend

little crimson dots
lining her pale skin
if love is a freedom
then her hate was a sin

but a beautiful sin
oh so full of release
and while her skin ached
her heart was at peace

too easily she fell
further and further down
the world lost sight of an angel's smile
and soon began to see a demon's frown

and once upon a times
became a thing of the past
while the little girl lost all she had
to a razor sharper than the last

tears beaded her razor
prettier than dew
and all of a sudden..
what her fate was, she knew

so deep in the night
with all the lights turned down dim
she crawled into the bathtub
hoped the end would soon begin

she slit all both her wrists
every inch began to bleed
an escape from the pain
that's all she would need

in her last moments
the seconds ticking away
she was struck with a fear
and began to silently pray

she woke up two days later
to hear her heart on a screen
so afraid to be beaten
she turned away from the scene

but the Lord slowly took her
deep into His arms
He reminded her of His promises
that kept her safe from harm

She praised God she was living
even though she knew it would be tough
she'd still have to go home
but somehow...it didn't seem so rough

and she looked out the window
to see where an angel did grin
and with tears in her eyes
she knew her second chance would begin

There were good bits and bad bits to this. I think this piece was better at the beginning. The first stanza was great! It had good rhythm and rhymes.
