What Is The Meaning Of Family?

by Katy Nicholson   Apr 7, 2008

I sit alone as I watch the rain.
It trickles down the window pane.
Daddys gone and moms asleep.
My brother could care less about me.

I try so much to fix our lives.
Life's so hard with school and lies.
I need someone to just listen to me.
What is the meaning of family?

I thought a family was always there for eachother.
But I can never seem to count on my brother.
Dad is always so busy at work.
And mom is just too much of a jerk..

...Is this the kind of family you'd like?
One that won't stand up and fight?
Respect your family, as they respect you.
In the end, you'll know the love is true.

When you say you hate someone, you really don't.
You just want to be closer, you just want hope.
You'd be lucky to have a "bro" or "sis."
This is what a family is.

A family is like a radiant light.
Their hearts wrap around you, and hug you tight.
Now who am I, to tell you who to be?
Loving families are all I see.

Do not pretend that no one is there.
Do not pretend that they don't care.
A little confusion won't matter at all.
Someone will catch you when you fall.

I sit alone as I watch the rain.
It trickles down the window pane.
Daddys behind me, and moms by my side.
They are everything through my eyes.
