Never to Wake

by Sam   May 24, 2004

Oh, great world, majestic thou may seem
To hold glory from land to sea
And suspense thee--in but a dream
Never to wake; never to be

For a fairytale and lust 'a-waits
The unconscious opens our eyes
A spell placed backwards; desecrate
With beauty concealed as a disguise

Thou contempt and ample with vain
The world bears mercy not an instant more
Revealing us with untold disdain
And sweeping us beneath the shore
