Dear mom and dad

Dear mom and dad

i know i was never perfect
i could never please you
i wasn't beautiful
and i wasn't smart
i wasn't artsy or athletic
but i tried it all
in hopes you would approve
the nights i cheered my heart out
he was all you saw
when i took awards for honor roll
it was him
who locked the place in your heart
i tried my best
but you were never proud
so i screamed
and i screamed loud
but you never heard
the pain behind my words
i didn't know what i could do
so i walked away from it all
i walked away from you
i let myself fall
i didn't win awards
and i didn't cheer anymore
but when i began to slip
and the cuts began to bleed
you still weren't there for me.

This is more of a powerful piece and most people would say they could relate to it in a lot of ways. Get the readers attention in the first few lines and they'll stay the whole way. I don't think you should ever have to fight for your parents love or attention but its amazing how often it happens. Great start and a strong finish this earned a 5/5 great job
