The Self-Esteem of our Generation

by Tina   May 25, 2004

Kids always saying things they don't know what they mean,
So many things gone unnoticed so many kids that aren't seen
Bulling and teasing, hazing and fights
Teenagers blinded by darkness and can't see the light.
They whisper that their stupid, they're ugly and just plain fat,
Nobody knows where their heart is really at.
Our generation's cruelty is killing our self-esteem,
If someone would send out a ray of hope, or a loving beam.
Feelings of worthlessness are too often shared,
Too many adults that just don't care.
We're just kids, and teenagers so few,
Nothing could possibly be wrong with you!
Give us a change give us some hope,
We don't all sit around smoking dope.
We just need to hold on for a little bit longer
I know we can all be a little stronger.
We're delinquents because that's how you see us,
Its like we're in the back of the bus.
Someone's got to stand up for what's right why can't that me you and me?
Get up and make a statement you'll see!
Recognize us for everything good we can do,
Why can't you trust us and believe that we are true.
Smile at us and learn not to glare,
Don't you think that hurting us like this is so unfair?
Give me a chance to prove to you that we're good,
You can see everything we can do if you could.
Just what kind of world do you want your Grandchildren to grow up in,
The kind of world where the leader's aren't confidant, which was something, YOU could prevent.
We're the future whether you want us to be or not,
Just remember you're beliefs will not be forgot.
