Save her a dance?

by StandStill   Apr 28, 2008

Tempting music
floats on the air
dancers move gracefully
with tender care

You're holding her now
be careful not to let go
feel her move with you
as around you the music flows

Love songs filter through air
cutesy words that all rhyme
reader, have you noticed?
the clock's broken...this moment's suspended in time

Twirl her around
and hold on tight
sway her left
dip her right

Her beautiful laugh,
her smell all around
just you and her, together
falling into the sound

you kiss her soft hair
whisper aloud
"Baby, you're beautiful"
but not once do you look into the crowd

If you did, dear reader
a sad sight you would see
a girl dressed for the party
but she's standing lonely

Watching you kiss her
watching her smile
envious of the waltzers,
she just stands there a while

Pretty wall flower
wishing for the chance
but nobody takes her hand
nobody wants to dance

So alone she will stand
and she'll watch you speak love
to her, the lights are blinding
shining from above

Story is ending
so is the tune
poor girl is crying
alone, under the moon
