Precocious Metals

by Alter Ego For Rent   Apr 30, 2008

We've got rust on our teeth
And rust on our lips
We've got rust in our hearts
Rust dangling from straying fingertips
We've got chrome clouds with keypads
That sway over our heads
And we sing to paper lovers
Kept insane and incapacitated
In every other cold bed
Well you said I'd always be silver
Be your second best
But maybe you're gold plated
Hollow inside
Just like the rest

It's my words against your gold
There is no poignancy in your silohuettes

We've got ice in our nails
And ice in our eyes
We've got ice on our tongues
Ice concieved in antiquated minds
We've got shiny platinum oceans that sway under our feet
And we shout to paper lovers that melt and meld
Their opiate-induced mutterings to our slow sad song's beat.
Well I'm happy with silver
I'm not second best
And you're still gold plated
Hollow inside
Just like the rest.

It's my words against your gold
There is no poignancy in your silohuettes.

Precious metals
Precocious metals
It's all the same to me.

Pressing metals
Pregnant metals
Paniced metals
Preconcieved metals
Premeditated metals
Pulling metals
Punching metals
Pretending metals
Pending metals
Preliminary metals
Praying metals
Preying metals
Pious metals
Parlimentary metals
Pediatric metals
Post-traumatic metals
Post-mortem metals.

It's all the same to me.
