What a Lovely Scene for Betrayal

by StandStill   May 1, 2008

Through the masquerade liars
they found one another
fought for what they had
ain't it sweet, Lover?

And the tale begins
with the stroke of a clock
girl, sitting at ocean's edge
feet dangling off the dock

Starlight glittered 'round
the air was heavy, beautiful
no sound but the ocean
tempest's sweet lull

He came up behind
and he grabbed her hand
wanted to show her something
they walked away, foot prints in sand

He took her into his arms
and she took him into her heart
oh, what a lovely setting
for betrayal to start

She was so swift to love him
and he was so swift to pull a knife
plunged deep into his sweetheart
poor girl...wanted to be his life...

Ripped out her heart
held it in too-strong hands
while she fell to the ground
crying in the sand

Ocean's sweet song now bitter
as he marvled at her heart
not pretty enough for him..
so he tore it apart

She now lays bleeding in the sand
and with one dying breath
poor girl cried, I love you...
and she watched as he left

I was impressed just by the first two stanzas alone, and the rest was just icing on the cake. I love the way this paints a picture for me.. I can imagine everything you say happening, and I feel the emotion that you scribe into your work. I really wish I could write as well as you (i have a huge ego, so well done lol)

Such good imagery. It painted a perfect picture though, the poem itself was very sad.
