THE BENEFIT OF LIGHT

Oct 10TH 1989

As I began to feel the emptiness,
Of the void that was left behind.
I searched so deep within myself,
But only shadows did I find

Looking for A spark of light,
A small glimmer of hope
So I may improve My life,
Instead of barely cope

I know the light is in there,
It just wont surface overnight!
Because you cannot see A shadow,
Without THE BENEFIT OF LIGHT

Just as A blind man has faith,
To feel the warm sunrise
I can feel the light that shines,
Through the darkness, that covers my eyes

I know I must continue to try,
To remove what blocks the light
It's not as hopeless as it once did seem,
Because hope is coming in sight

So if you see me chasing shadows ,
Remember one thing of me
I am not running after lost illusions,
But searching for the light to see

    I have read this several times and try as I may cannot pick out just one verse that would be my favorite. They are all very good and I shall make this one of my favorite poems. Thanks for writing this and suggesting it for a read, it mirrors my thoughts from before I had the Benefit of Light.

    -a profound Truth....well done..

    My only issue is with all the exclamation points..
    I believe they distract from getting a subtle feeling for the deeper meaning of many of your images and words...
