Trapped ((Learn not to listen to fairies))

by StandStill   May 10, 2008

In the pallid green of sunset
was a little fairy lost,
searching, falling, breaking,
trying to get out at any cost

Follow her through this maze
close your eyes and you will see,
too-tall hedges every which way
desperate hearts straining to burst free

Take a turn to the left
and you'll find another deadened end
flip around, try to retrace your steps
but the bushes twist and bend

Filter through your memory
ask yourself now why?
why are you here, where is the fairy?
are you going to cry?

No, because you're stronger,
and the fairy's now forgot
animal hate bubbles in your throat
and your anger's suddenly hot

There has got to be an end
a way out of this turbulant sea of grean
brush your hands across the bushes
and you'll see there's no such thing

Desperation and animal fear
those are all the things you feel
blink your eyes a thousand times,
this can't possibley be real

Pinpoint fractions of reality
burst suddenly in your head
popping off like fireworks
remembering things the fairy said

"Click your heels together
if you lose your way, my dear"
with that the fairy had flitted off
and left you here with fear

So you click your heels together
and close your eyes, seeing black
glitter behind your eyes is blinding
but the fairy never comes back

Haunting laughter echos
bringing you to your sense
you're still standing, heels together
trapped by your shrubby fence

Realize now, my dear one,
the fairy tricked you well
forever a prisoner to her maze,
lost forever in pallid green hell
