WANTING TO LEAVE THE PAIN BEHIND

For months now he has not truly hurt
But tonight came crashing down like a thousand sharp blades to his heart
He looked so longingly at the knife that has comforted him for so long
But next to the sharp edge was a picture
A picture of a happy day spent with his girl
And on his wrist was written, "Somebody Loves me"
All he wanted was the pain to leave
So he searched though his dresser draws
And pulls out a poem written to him,
About a girl who loved a boy, and she carved a heart into a tree to show her love...
The pain of the boy turns into tears
And his tears, into grief
He misses her
It was only hours ago that he kissed her goodnight
But her still missed the girl that has become his reason to wake up every morning
She is the reason he cannot go to sleep at night
(His mind is filled with thoughts of her)
She is the reason he wants to live
The reason he has not cut, and will not cut tonight
He loves his girl with all his heart
Only his thoughts help him from what he wants to do
The memories of better days
The days he was truly happy
The days spent with HIS girl
