Plea of A Dying Tree

by gracey grey   Jun 2, 2008

I was once mighty and strong
Had thousands of fellow friends
We held the world together
But alas! Now they are long gone
I can only see masses of naked fields
They stripped them all, you see
How could they be so cruel?

It won't be long before they come for me
Very soon I will die too
But my death will come slow
They will torture me first
Chop off my arms before they bring me down
My cries, I know nobody will heed
If only I was born different

It saddens me deeply to be snatched of my life
I thought I served you all well
Wonder how it will be when I go?
Will you tell your children how sweet the air was?
The breath of life that your parents inhaled
And in which you grew
You will miss me I know, but it will be too late

    I like this a lot.

You have describing the felling of a tree from the tree's perspective. A good, unique viewpoint!

Do we hear their pain? In short we don't care! Our greed outweighs any sympathy felt.

We will savage this earth until it is spent and then we will all reap what we have sown!

    Well done

    Michael
