A rainy day in Kolkata

by Arunansu   Jun 5, 2008

I was alone in a Mini bus,
marooned in an ashen sea. A half-open
window sprayed beads over my spectacles.
The hazy world outside resembled
a group of drenched crows.

Air smelled of muddy sky
and slime; sound of disconcerted waters
occupied vacant seats. I was filled up with
pleats of your sari, and a pair of
silvery hilsas.
