Trials of Time

Today I look back at days that have passed,
The days of pain, struggle, despair, darkness,
The never ending failure staring at my face
The dreams of victory, the hopes, the aspirations,
I look back and smile, how I have grown;
I have conquered, I have survived,
I have discovered the power within me,
The courage to hold on, the endurance to resist.

I tell myself, "Why did I cry, oh why?"
Why nights felt like demons black,
and people seemed to be dark angels,
How could I ever think of stepping back?

There is one thing constant: that is change,
And I have learned with changing times
The dark cloud above me had come to say,
"Look I have a silver line!"

I am stronger, confident and happier more,
I have risen to gather joys galore,
I have no doubt, I have no fear,
To my success, I will adhere.

Of all the things I wrote about,
I do not have the slightest doubt,
There always was a divine force with me,
Who enveloped me with serenity.
At times that I was hardest hit,
I wanted to give up, but I couldn't quit.
And now I feel proud and privileged
I can breathe, I do exist!
