Summer Love

by La La xx Beth   Jun 10, 2008

You say you miss what we had.
But tell me, what did we have?
We were liars and cheaters
And went behind people's backs.
Is that what you miss?
Or were you just blinded by what
Could have been?

You liked the game,
You liked the chase,
You liked what couldn't be yours.

We were foolish and young.
Memories of the past still haunt me
And glimpses of your face remind me
You won't go away.

The summer heat got to us,
You were alone and took advantage
Of a good friendship.
Maybe if I was a little stronger...
Maybe if I wasn't so fooled by your words...
I could have stopped this insane feeling
And remember you were hers.

My heart became yours,
You swore you wouldn't break it
But all too soon I got hurt.
Your eyes were empty as you said
"Sorry, but I never believe in forever."
I cried and I screamed.
I said hurtful words I never wanted to mean.
I regret too many things
And despite of it all,
I still want you with me.
