I wish i was an angel so i could hold you
and you would believe me and move on...

i wish i was a duck...i hear they make no mistakes
and though i may not know what i want
i know how it aches...and i care

i wish i was the air so i could caress you
and you'd breathe me in...and know.
that something pure exists.

i wish i was your eyes so i could see the world
and feel. and know. like you do.
you hope so kindly--give up so quickly.

love don't be afraid. i may not know the right words to say.
i don't know how a heart aches, or how love feels.
or how to prove it to you. i don't.
no, i cant promise forever, or tomorrow. or yesterday.
but i feel...something. like a yearning? i think about you.
a lot actually. so much i cant create a single ounce of poetry.
but isn't that opposite of what love makes you do?

i think...i just see what you hide,
but you don't really want to.
and i don't really want you to.
you know how bad it hurts.
that constant burning behind your eyes.
i can feel that.
but i want to understand your pain,
its so hard to find a sense of reality
but you bring it to me. don't be afraid now,
I'm listening. that's it.

and these words may not mean a thing. i never was good with words,
but if a heart could talk this would be mine crying out.
don't love me, let me care.
don't promise anything, just live.
a moment is a moment whether captured or forgotten.
and i think about you. a lot actually...
that means something right?

and tell me...
but who knows how to use words like ours.
