Imperfection

by dollwithafrown   Jun 16, 2008

Your words floated onto paper with such elegant ease,
As I struggled with my thoughts, subdued by a purple haze.
Transfixed, I watch as flowers bloomed before me,
I'd lost the ability to differentiate between each passing day.

Punishing myself for not being as good, as perfect;
That little green demon arising in me once again.
Your work: a morning sunrise, everybody sees it,
Mine withers away as soon as I reach for the pen.

You said I was amazing, my talent glowing beyond the rest,
But not even your words could make me see
'cause when I read the art that comes from you,
I knew it was the kind of perfect that I could never be.

    Wondeful... I like this poem a lot. :)

    I can relate to this poem very easily... I know what you mean specially these lines " Punishing myself for not being as good, as perfect;
    That little green demon arising in me once again."

    Well...none of us are perfect and we will never be... We just have to be satisfied when we do our best...

    A truely beautiful poem, each stanza was perfectly written and your choice of wording was excellent.
    I found your second stanza to be my fav, although the others were just as good.
    This poem provokes alot of thought its extremly interesting and it draws the reader in, you are very talented, you made the flow easy to follow yet witty so as to allow the reader to question what you are portraying.

    Wow. This poem was so emotionally filled. I love how you expressed your feelings that you didn't feel like you were "perfect" for this person. I feel like this all the time, which was really easy for me to read this poem because of that. I love when I can relate to a poem, because it just makes me that much more interested. This poem is filled with emotions and very great vocabulary :) You portrayed a really nice sad feeling in this poem. Awesome poem. I loved how easily I could pick up on how you were feeling. 5/5.
