Eternal sleep

by Grant Gilbert AKA Slash   Jun 18, 2008

Eternal sleep

Sleep, sleep, oh you elusive beast
My demons awake, and come for the feast
I'm so tired that I cannot see straight
My mind IS confusion, and my body aches

How dare you lie beside me and sleep so sound
Oh how I hate you, or the sleep that you have found
Though I truly do love you, you see
This lack of sleep is getting the better of me

Eight days now, this is insane
I've been snapping and shouting, and just being a pain
How I pray for sweet release
Nothing but blackness and blissful peace

In the meantime I lie here and stare at the ceiling
I still cannot get over this dreadful feeling
For some pills I have taken and then some more
Darkness overcomes me as I begin to snore

This drug induced sleep where dangers abound
For this sleep is not sleep, as I have found
Trying to heave aside sleep, as I struggle and fight
Death comes to claim me, in eternities night.

Great wording and rhyming Grant....but the message was a dark one indeed:( One should never ask for eternal sleep!
Not my handsome friend in the prime of his life!

    Much love,
