The Final Act

I'm starting to give up
As my life passes day by day
I feel there's nothing left to do
No more words to say

You made me feel invincible
Like I could soar above the stars
But now I have to second guess myself
Because your heart has run too far

It's almost like I'm running
To catch what I can never receive
Why did you have to lie
When you spoke those words to me

I almost gave you my heart
But only to find you loved another
But it's alright, I'll be just fine
I can get along great, like any other

Sometimes it's hard
Knowing I haven't known you all too long
But maybe it's good to let you go
And let my heart sing it's final song

You see you've done this to me
Put me in this inferno trap
Remember this will be all your fault
As this will be my final act

My screams are deathly silent
As the last drops quietly fall
I though that you would save me by now.
But my world grows dark, and I'm finally wrong.

    I love this poem a lot. Because, for the main fact.. that I've felt the same for awhile now. Giving up on someone who you had feelings for isn't very easy. I've been trying for almost a year now, and I can't seem to actually do it. It's not the easiest thing to do, but I hope that you eventually are able to. :) What a great poem, I'm glad that I could actually relate. It was a relatable poem in which I think not only me and you could relate to.. but so many other readers as well. Great job 5/5
