To Wish for Her And I

by Cooper   Jul 12, 2008

***My lover and I have recently encountered problems in our relationship. An old love of hers has recently come back into her life, and along with him her affection. Her feelings for me are being questioned, though we still fight for a chance to regain what may not be so lost. This poem is to show that even if she falls from love, I will be there to catch her as a friend.***

Oh how I wish our fires did not die ...
Now I am left to catch
them on my tongue,
as they fall across the skies like stars
and still ... not as brilliant as
her dark and comforting eyes.

Oh how I wish our flowers did not,
wither ...
and we could still lie in gardens;
unclothed;
and kiss each other with our softly beating hearts.

And I will always wish, what is alive was not buried.

A see-through coffin, 'neath six feet
of confusion and misery.

But beneath the ashes, I will still
call her angel;
the halo that is her smile
and gentle wings that reach to burn us both ...
... with passion again.
I will wish, always, for her happiness.
