China Doll

by Tangible heartache   Jul 18, 2008

She sits there;
Arms around herself,
Trying to keep herself together;
Like a broken doll on a shelf.

Tears falling,
Trickling down her cheek.
People pass this old china doll,
One reason, because she is antique.

Glass made from stars,
Paint made from the clouds above.
White porcelain face,
As white as a dove.

People pass by her,
Ignoring her piercing blue-eyed stare,
Watching passerbies,
It seems that no one cares.

Watching from the dusty window,
Her breath fogging the glass,
She watches the kids play,
Watches them pass.

Sitting on the dusty shelf,
Of an old store,
Where she's been all her life,
With no one to adore.

Watching her life pass by,
Day by day,
No one to come,
Nothing to say.

Locked in a box,
Ready to be sold,
Waiting for the day
To unfold.

  • This poem is strong in emotion and a very original topic.I feel as if many of us in this world are like the "china doll" persay.We are all waiting for someone to take us off of our shelves.The format was good and the word choice was smooth and basic.Very good.5/5
