Broken Child

by Unseen Exposure   Jun 2, 2004

Can't you hear her cry as she drifts into a dream?
Can't you hear the silence after her awful scream?
Can't you tell by the way she cries, her heart is full of pain,
Just help her out her bedroom window and let her fly away,
And if her wings should fail, help her up to try again,
No one ever taught her what it's like to have a friend,
It seems as though her family has dug her in a hole,
One in which she can't escape without sacrificing her soul,
She wonders if someone cares the way she needs them to,
Someone should look after her, who knows what she may do,
For all you care, she doesn't exist in anything but a thought,
But you must understand all the things that she has fought,
So much has taken over her like anger- hate- and greed,
Every now and then she cuts herself just to see it bleed,
And if the sun should rise tomorrow, thank this broken girl,
For it was her that dried her tears and then let life uncurl,
Say goodbye to the constant rain within her life,
But don't forget the things you said that led her to the knife.
