Rearview Mirror ((Never coming back))

by StandStill   Jul 22, 2008

Someday I'm sprouting wings
and I'm gonna fly so far away.
You'll look for me so far and wide,
search all night and day.

But I won't be within your reach,
oh, babe, i'll be so far gone.
Flying off into the sunset,
past two in the morning 'til dawn.

I'm sure there'll be some rearview mirror
on a beat up truck or convertible.
But I'll just keep my eyes away,
and make sure the gas tank's full.

I swear to you, I'm getting out,
don't care how...just care about the when.
I'm getting out of this two-star town,
and I will never look back again.

Someday, I'm going to be a something,
or maybe a big ol' super star.
Won't that be just oh-so-fine...?
I want to bring you with me, wherever you are.

Every day seems like two steps forward and one step back,
but that sure as hell means I'm going somewhere.
I'm knocking from my feet this New Mexican dust,
and pushing past your blank and tired stare.

I'm going to run so fast like they all say,
and run my way out of this god-forsaken town.
I'm never coming back once I go up...
I'm never coming back down.
