Just a Simple Poem

This aint no great poem
with a happy ending,
no metaphors or mysteries
or struggling and pretending.

This is just a simple poem
one about you and me,
and the feelings I have inside
the ones I want everyone to see.

As you may or may not know
I don't have the best past,
words left unspoken and heartbreaks
with relationships that could never last.

There was a point where I gave up
on the whole love game,
I gave it all up
until along you came.

It's true when I say
you make me smile,
I'm gonna let you see the real me
but it might take a wile.

I got butterflies when you held my hand
and when you hugged me to,
all this may sound cheesy
but I'm happy I found you.

Well that's my simple poem
with not a happy end,
and the reason for that is
I never want what we have to end.
