Victoria Manor

Victoria Manor

Victoria Manor and hotel
In the center of a landscape that I love so well
Made to feel so welcome at the door
Hospitality overflows and then some more

Open door to my rented room
Expecting nothing more than dust and gloom
What a pleasant shock and nice surprise
Waking to a farm style room and warm sunrise

The barman there is an old friend of mine
Went to visit and have a good time
But like the rest of the staff he is committed to his work
I would never expect him, his duty to shirk

So while he worked I looked around
These are some of the special things I found
There had been visits from some famous faces
From there you could travel to some special places

Cecil John Rhodes had owned that bed
Shamwari is just down the road the lady had said
So a lovely visit has come to an end
As I open the throttle and speed around the bend

So to Lisa and her staff I can only commend
If you head that way it is to them that I will send
Cradock is busy like never before
They owe a special thanks to Victoria Manor

Very unique poem, Grant! Very surprising indeed. I don't know what I was expecting but this was different.

I felt for a moment I was there with you looking around the hotel.. I love the details in your poem... Definitely the best...

In the end of poem I start wondering if this poem is real or fiction... :) I was thinking it is real.. :D
