A Hundred Thousand Words

by StandStill   Aug 8, 2008

Nearly seven hundred poems
means more than a hundred thousand words.
Still I whisper quietly
and the meanings go unheard.

Oh, darling, I know you read it..
the words spread before you like the sea.
You figure if you understand them,
then you simply must know about me.

Darling, I don't write my insecurities,
I don't write my sorrows and my feats.
I don't really write for you...
honestly, I don't write for me.

This stupid little habit,
oh, it's a nasty kick.
Been through the smiles and the lies
and the skin that once was sick.

Darling, I could write for a thousand years,
and you'll never understand.
My words are only that, just words,
spilling forth from changing hands.
