Going to Town....

by June   Aug 8, 2008

When I was a kid going to town was fun ,
now it's an outing I do fear.
Everything comes at a price ,
even eating out in town is so dear.

People say they are skint ,
but still it's busy and everyone's rushing about.
With every shop that you enter ,
you can hear wanting kids shout.

Shops used to be smaller ,
now they are so big I get lost.
Once upon a time you'd be able to eat in a little cafe ,
now it's fast food joints where it's all at a cost.

Town is just not what it used to be ,
it's like a jungle when you go there.
Everyone in a hurry dashing to and fro ,
it's only when your spending money do the shop assistants show some friendly care.

How this brought back a few memories of when I'd go into town as a child. Times were so much more friendly then, now you can't even find a place to park. Yet another statement on how we are loosing touch with aech other, and that's sad. Maybe instead of being concerned about how much money we can make a day, we should be more concerned with how much respect we can show our fellow person.
