Slipping Away

by McKenzieSerenity   Aug 10, 2008

I cannot seem to keep you in my grasp,
Every time I look at you,
There comes a need to leave.
How can we live like this,
Loving turned to running?
You taught me not to hold back,
Then you took my place.
Now I try to show you,
That despite your fear to love,
I am always here to love and hold you close.
You tell me you must go,
Again and again,
And I finally surrender you with a tear.
Then you see this tear,
One of many shed for you,
And you realize how broken inside I am.
I weep and I try to spill my heart to you,
And you let me then show me what I want.
Are my tears the only key to passion's door?
Must I weep every time I seek a kiss?
When I see your face I remember those first days,
When you told me that you harbored love for me,
Then you taught me to let passion take control.
I would wait for a thousand years for your return,
Yet even after promising so,
I will cry every night,
As I lie alone and wait.
