The Accident

by Rodney Kirby   Aug 21, 2008

Joey knelt down, his hands trembling and touched his daughter's name
His mind clouded with hurt, his heart filled with shame.
He heard the screeching tires and paid no mind, for it seemed so far
Now he held her little body as it was pinned beneath the car.
She looked up and breathed her last, her dads eyes filled with tears
He thought Gods gift was forever not just for 4 years.
Joey was abusive, and alcohol was his love
God showed him a love different, a gift from above.
Ann's purpose was done her dads heart was now pure
She loved with such might, her love was the cure.
Joey's heart was opened as he was loved by something so small
Her will was overpowering and her love she gave all
In the corner of her grave a red flower sprang up,
It was her message to her daddy please never give up

Wow my goodness. Just as Crystal Rose said, you really know how to hit the spot in our hearts that hurt. Very good. It was a hard image to grasp but very well written. Amazing work.

You know how to grab a heart and squeeze it till it bleeds. This was so sad, almost painful to read, but done with style and class. What a great poem you penned of something so painful
