Pieces

by David ODonnell   Sep 4, 2008

Such a vessel of angst through time
Portrayed as open and free of crime
The seams of wood that bound the heart
Begin to fray and fall apart

Open waves of salty tears
Chanted words and whispered fears
Steady land through shallow pools
Broken masks and bloodied tools

Desert dreams of lost emotions
Swallowed by the lying oceans
Mouths that sputter words of hate
Effects the mind but its too late

Opened eyes that never shut
Dreams repeat but short then cut
Lying life through every day
Pushing people then thoughts away

Moving slowly and dying fast
Thoughts that help will never last
Shrinking feeling starts again
Sinking blades into the vien

Tears inside that build a gale
Anger moves though off the scale
Calming thoughts of those that care
And those that do are never there

Lasting absence built a wall
Around the heart so thick and tall
No one tries to take that load
Nor would they want to if bestowed

A puzzle piece so worn and scarred
An unknown picture still on guard
What lies beyond the locked steel door
Is the reason being and beating core
