My cup runneth over

by Grant Gilbert AKA Slash   Sep 12, 2008

My cup runneth over

When things go wrong, and my wife is angry with me
I don't understand why, because I'm not a woman you see
I know it will blow over in a short while
My cup runneth over, when I see her smile

When my finances are low, and I'm stressing quite bad
I don't know what to do, so I start worrying like mad
I look at the food on my table and a warm bed at night
My cup runneth over, I know things will come right

When my back and neck are raging with pain
I don't think I can take another day like it again
I see how many others are worse off than me
My cup runneth over, then I'm thankful you see

When depression sets upon me as dark as the night
My soul is in pain as I grasp for the light
Why should I wallow in self pity? I ask
When my cup runneth over, just work at the task

So you see when things are going not quite like they should
Sit and think of all the positive things, we've actually got it quite good
So dear reader open your eyes and you too will discover
If you look hard enough, your cup runneth over!

Amen. Words of wisdom that everyone should heed. When you look at what you do have in life, you realize that you are not doing a bad as you thought. Thanks for the reminder.

    Grant,

You know when you read, or see something that sends a rush through you, well, your words have just done that to me. The line, my cup runneth over did this to me and it's meaning, although explained compounded this feeling.

We are truly fortunate for all the things we have right under our nose, the sad thing is that we often take such things completely for granted!

Well done my friend for high-lighting such pleasures and reminding us all that we should be grateful for them and why not push the boat out, go on tell them that you appreciate them, especially if they are a partner!!

What a wonderful thought provoking piece you have penned.

So you see when things are going not quite like they should

    Your cup runneth over!

So many times we are so busy feeling sorry for ourselves we forget to look at the blessings we do have. It is the smallest treasures in life that bring us the most happiness.
    Great job!
    Take Care
