The Little Flower

by charles   Sep 14, 2008

A single flower in a place where it doesn't belong
a little bit trampled, yet still holding on to its life
In the cool breezy 'morn it stands out
its yellow petals against the green grass
No-one knows why it's there, was it planted
or simply there by the grace of nature
A small cloud slowly passes over-head
it starts to sprinkle, they say it's angels crying
Another summer almost over and winter's coming
in a few months the ground will be snow covered
By that time no-one will even remember the little flower
but it'll remain in my mind through the cold months
And in the spring with the help of nature
it will return once more as a thing of beauty
Just a small distraction from a busy day
but then again, a small reflection of myself
