This Maze

by StandStill   Sep 18, 2008

Follow the maze in circles,
we twirl around the bend.
Look forward to the day,
when we find the blessed end.

Feet grow ever weary,
walls and walls of white.
Twisting through this maze,
day and day and night.

Pixie dust and promises,
they glitter on the floor.
This maze is never-ending,
can you take it anymore?

Take a step now, forward.
That's right, we're doing fine.
Gravity and bravery,
follow line by line.

Excellence now falters,
the air is growing thick.
Pick up your feet, my darling,
but your feet now stick.

The corridors are thinner,
can't breathe the air we taste.
What if this forward motion
is nothing but a waste?

The lights are growing dimmer,
can't see, can't walk, can't move.
Everything is fallen,
broken and sweetly bruised.

This maze is never ending,
we're never getting out.
Trapped forever in our dreams and thoughts,
just living with the doubt.

"you spend your whole life stuck in the labyrinth, thinking how you'll escape it one day, and how awesome it will be, and imagining that future keeps you going, but you never do it. You just use the future to escape the present"
