In Two Ways I Wouldn't Be Here Without You

by MyxPeacefulxChaos   Sep 18, 2008

We may not get along,
One hundred percent of the time.
We may argue, we may fight,
We may step out of line.

We may not agree,
On every topic we discuss.
We get on each other's nerves,
We frustrate and we fuss.

And although it's not perfect,
Our relationship is there.
It's a strong bond,
Between Dad and Daughter.

You may nag and yell every now and then,
And I may get mad at punishments; say something smart.
All my life it's been that way,
But at least I know you've cared from the start,
Because some parents don't,
They just sit back and let go.
They care not for their child's problems,
They just don't want to know.

So we've had some rough times,
On the other hand though,
There were times of fun,
Times when our smiles did show.

You've helped me through problems,
Some big and some small.
It may have been rocky,
But you never let me fall.

So thank you Dad,
For making me laugh,
And for making me cry.
Thank you for caring,
Thanks for standing near my side.

Thanks for the punishments,
And for teaching me things.
Thanks for showing me,
Exactly what happiness brings.

And so my dear father,
My poem is through.
I just want you to know that I wouldn't still be here,
If it weren't for you.
