Lessons in Failing

by StandStill   Sep 20, 2008

Can you taste the irony?
Feel the weight of the world on your head.
Deception is the best contraceptive,
don't you know this world's sorta dead?

Define love for the broken angel wings,
feel them flutter down behind your eyes.
Failure on your finger tips,
cheeks reddened by perfect lies.

The world accepts your imperfections
only long enough to tell you you fail.
Desire for your anonymous heart
rests on the fate of a coinflip tails.

Car crashes 'neath the round moon,
actresses screaming on the stage.
Metal bites into your soul,
blue bracelets and a tiny cage.

Paper snowflake valentines,
flutter down like angel wings.
Arithmetic and others words,
lessons in unimportant things.
